David Jonathan Willey was formerly an international player representing England in cricket. Willey went to the Northamptonshire private school-Pittsford School as a child, which is well-known for its athletic facilities. Domestic Career

He began his playing career in the County Championship division two, representing his native county of Northamptonshire. When David joined Northamptonshire in 2009, he was a batsman in the bottom order. Since then, Willey has represented a number of domestic teams, including the Welsh Fire, Northern Superchargers, Multan Sultans, Yorkshire, Perth Scorchers, and Durban Super Giants. Willey has had much success in his domestic career. In 33 matches, he has taken 121 wickets for Yorkshire at an average of 24.50 in the English County Championship, making him a vital member of the team. Additionally, he played for the Northern Superchargers in the Hundred Tournament, where he had an average of 22.09 while taking 11 wickets in 8 games.

International Career

His first One Day International (ODI) match was on May 8, 2015, against Ireland. On November 11, 2023, he played his final ODI match against Pakistan. In One-Day Internationals, Willey has taken 100 wickets at an economy rate of 5.53 and an average of 30.42. With a high of 5/30, he has four four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul.

In addition, on June 23, 2015, he played his first Twenty20 International (T20I) match against New Zealand. On October 14, 2022, he played his final T20I match against Australia. Willey has claimed 51 wickets in T20Is at an average of 23.14 and an economy rate of 8.18. His best figures in T20Is are 4/7.

IPL Career

2018 saw David Willey make his IPL debut with the Chennai Super Kings. During his 11 IPL games, he scored 53 runs and claimed 6 wickets. Willey participated in three IPL games for the Chennai Super Kings in 2018. Along with his 34 runs, he claimed two wickets. He made eight appearances for the Chennai Super Kings in the 2019 Indian Premier League. He grabbed four wickets and scored 19 runs.

He was an IPL player for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2023. Willey was a player for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2023 Indian Premier League. He participated in every game the squad played, going without a run and claiming no wickets.

He was eventually cleared to play in the series and played a crucial role in England’s victory over Pakistan in the final. In 2019, Willey suffered another injury that forced him to miss out on England’s World Cup triumph. In 2023, Willey suffered yet another injury that put his participation in the IPL in doubt. He worked hard and was eventually cleared to play and played a crucial role in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s campaign.
